Rain Gardens

What is a Rain Garden?

A rain garden consists of native plants that are located in a natural depression, that is formed by a slope. After a storm, the rain garden collects water runoff, temporary holds the water until it is evaporated.

What is the purpose of a Rain Garden?

Stormwater runoff captures pollutants that go untreated. The untreated pollutants flow into streams, rivers, and ponds. Rain gardens capture the pollutants and pathogens, which then get filtered by the rain garden or treated by sun light.
